But, boy was I wrong. Definitions only got me so far and not very far at that. It appears that a clearer picture requires understanding the term's concept, as well as its definition.
Wellbeing Defined
The 1994 Mosby, 4th Edition, Medical, Nursing and Allied Health Dictionary defines wellbeing as: "Achievement of a good and satisfactory existence as defined by the individual."
Kennon Sheldon describes wellbeing as "a combination of high positive affect, low negative affect and high life satisfaction. Wellbeing includes both biologically grounded (mood, emotion) and cognitively grounded (judgments, evaluations) information."
In his article, The Measurement of Well-being and Other Aspects of Mental Health, Peter Warr describes general wellbeing as "an active state consisting of positive affect and high arousal."
